Events & Awards

CUTA organizes two major conferences each year as well as other workshops on more focused topics. The Annual Conference is held in May or June each year and is the Association's policy and management event. The Fall Conference is held in November and is the technical conference covering topics like emission standards, maintenance concerns, new technologies and priority measures. The Fall event also includes a day dedicated to Trans-Expo, Canada's Transit and Bus Exhibition where the latest transit vehicles, products and services are on display for business to business marketing and sales opportunities.

CUTA conferences are known for the quality of their content, the dynamism of their discussions and the interactive nature of their networking and professional development components. Conferences provide excellent value for delegates looking to exchange ideas and experiences with colleagues in the transit industry together in one place. They are a unique opportunity for transit managers, elected officials and suppliers to learn, develop contacts and build alliances for the future.

The CUTA National Transit Recognition Awards are designed to recognize excellence in the public transportation industry in Canada, both on an individual level and an organizational level. The Corporate Awards focus on achievements of CUTA's members in all categories; transit systems, business members, and affiliate members. The Employee awards are selected based on accomplishments worthy of recognition that include safety and attendance, as well as acts of heroism, exceptional performance, and outstanding achievement. Other categories include distinguished service, lifetime achievement, or extraordinary support for transit in general.

The winners are acknowledged by their peers at an awards ceremony that takes place each year at the CUTA Annual Conference for the Corporate Awards and at the Fall Conference for the Employee Awards.
