CUTA Expresses Support for Haitian Reconstruction Efforts

In response to the devastating earthquake that recently hit Haiti, and the leadership role of the Canadian Government in rescue efforts and reconstruction of the country’s communities and transport infrastructure, CUTA Chair Charles Stolte has written to Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Lawrence Cannon and Minister of Transport, Infrastructure & Communities John Baird, expressing the readiness of the transit industry in assisting with the execution of this unprecedented and long-term international relief effort.

As public transit makes communities a better place to live, offering incredible social, economic and environmental benefits, Canada’s transit industry has a rich depth of expertise, service, and know-how that could assist in the rebuilding.

The CUTA Executive Committee and its members across the country have an extraordinary amount of care and concern for those devastated by these recent events.  With this spirit, we hope to be able to make a difference in helping with the Haiti relief effort.
